As you already know, this year’s Bathurst 1000 was the wettest in living memory – possibly ever – and then, amazingly, the same thing happened just two weeks later at the Gold Coast 600!
What's Happening in Craig's World - October 2017
Bathurst 2017 was certainly not the sort of day we were looking for this year. If you saw it, you will know that the race was held in atrocious conditions … after three days of dry running during practice and qualifying, raceday dawned very cool and sure enough, just as the formalities on the grid finished, the rain started. Bathurst is always about strategy but the arrival of rain mean that the teams up and down pit lane had to reassess their starting driver and game plan when the race was declared ‘full wet’ for the start.
The Sheep’s Back Museum
The Sheep’s Back Museum is one of Naracoorte’s premier attractions. It has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor, and is conserved by Australia’s National Trust.
Naracoorte Caves to allow locals free entry
Local residents will now be able to visit the Naracoorte Caves for free. An agreement has been struck between the state government and the Naracoorte Lucindale Council aimed at encouraging residents to re-engage with the site. The agreement will run until the end of June 2018. The deal was reached after a survey of the local community revealed that providing an incentive such as a free tour entry would encourage locals to re-engage with the site and bring along a guest to experience South Australia’s only World Heritage site.
Team Toyo Takes Off-road Championship
Team Toyo driver Danny Brown and navigator George Apted are 2017 ARB Australian Off-Road Racing Series champions. Racing on Toyo Open Country M/T-R, Brown and Apted claimed third outright at the Pines Enduro, winning the pair outright championship honours in Australia’s premier off-road racing series. The team dominated the six-race championship season with only a single change of tyres.
