The Naracoorte T20 cricket comp is set for an exciting finish.

Cricketers sweated it out with a later 5.30pm start on Friday night because of the heat.

The Saturday round of matches has been cancelled for the same reason.

With one round remaining next weekend, Townies will finish on top but the race for the second spot will come right down to the wire with Wortley Warriors and Kybybolite in contention. They are on the same points but Warriors are just in front at this stage on percentage.

On Friday night, Kyby stayed in the finals race with a big win over Padthaway.

Kyby batted first and made a very competitive 143 from its 20 overs, with Brad Davies top scoring with 66 and Lee Curnow making 26.

In reply, Padthaway lost early wickets and couldn’t recover, posting 6/95 with young Kyby fill-in Ben Homan taking two wickets.

Townies were too good for Warriors, making 4/131 with Brad Redding continuing his good form with 72, Drew Myall making 22 and Anthony Munro 21.

In response, Warriors were bowled out for 88 with Brodie Foster returning the stunning figures of 6/9.

Apsley and Lucindale had the most competitive game with Apsley batting first and making 6/119, with Clint Robinson 49 and Chris Block 36 leading the way.

Lucindale batted well in reply to win in the 19th over, with Sam Graetz 43 and Michael McGurk 40 providing the bulk of the runs and Brad Maloney finishing the job with 14 off 12.

In next Friday’s final round at 5.30pm, Warriors will host Lucindale at Wortley Oval, Apsley will host Kyby and Devils will host Padthaway at IB Edwards Oval.
